When it comes to cooperative learning with group project some kids are happy about it and some kids are scared. Students are assigned a specific assignment with two to six other students. Students are then hoping they get the group with their best friends and the smartest kid in class so that they do not end up doing anything. But, some students are shy works well independently instead of group work. he a student is by him or herself they accomplish the task more and tend to get a better grade on the assignment. Then group work, students tend to get a group grade and that does not sound fair to too many students. In Marzano's list it says that researchers want to limit the use of groups and assign roles and responsibility. It also says that when teachers do groups students tackle tacks word problems in groups and explain their answers better. For me, I never liked group projects because some of the group does all the work while the others just sit and talked or on their phones. I do think that group projects should be limited in High school because that is when the problem with projects start to begin. In group projects they do help students to become more involved with communicating and working with others. In the website Cargnie Mellon it talks about the positive reinforcements students get from group works. It says "Positive group experiences, moreover, have been shown to contribute to student learning, retention and overall college success". It really all depends on the student and if the student is better in a group or by him or herself. That is what really matter to make the student successful.
